About the Clinical Skills Evaluation Collaboration (CSEC)
The assessment of clinical skills makes a difference. These assessments improve health care and benefit patients. They are an important tool for the health professions, which strive for standards of excellence in clinical practice. Because they evaluate critical skills not measured by cognitive exams, clinical skills assessments are essential to safe and effective patient care.
You know that a clinical skills assessment should be part of your institution’s evaluation program, but implementing a clinical skills assessment is a complex endeavor. What if you could work with a world-class expert in all aspects of clinical skills assessment—an expert that could scale and customize its services precisely to meet your needs?
The Clinical Skills Evaluation Collaboration (CSEC), a world expert in assessing clinical skills, is an outstanding resource for members of the world’s academic health professions community. CSEC tests all aspects of the clinical encounter, including communication and interpersonal skills, patient examination, spoken English proficiency, and clinical reasoning. CSEC also trains faculty at institutions worldwide to develop and deliver customized clinical skills assessments.
CSEC offers full-service development of standardized patient-based clinical skills examinations. It also provides customized consultation and faculty development services to clients worldwide and test administration services in its network of dedicated U.S. test centers.
The Power of Collaboration
CSEC combines the expertise of the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG®) and the National Board of Medical Examiners® (NBME®), two of the world’s leaders in evaluating the qualifications of physicians and other health care professionals. CSEC’s foundation is the collaborative strength of ECFMG and NBME, which together have more than 150 years of experience in assessment and in service to patients, health care professionals, and the medical education and regulatory communities. CSEC draws its expert staff from both organizations and also collaborates with hundreds of health professionals from a variety of disciplines.
